Long distance: Dedicated long-distance transport from Johannesburg to Durban, Cape Town and more

Load & Go runs dedicated long-distance trips from Gauteng: a vehicle and driver for your load, quoted one trip at a time. Our trips don't only go to Durban and Cape Town: we also go to Bloemfontein and to smaller towns and destinations such as Polokwane, Witbank (eMalahleni), Ventersdorp and Welkom, and many others.

Book in advance, ideally confirmed by about 18:00 the day before (a guideline, not a strict cut-off); urgent requests are assessed individually. Long-distance trips are paid as a 75% deposit before dispatch and 25% on delivery, and priced on the whole trip, with no fixed long-distance rates. For example, we have moved a 5,000-litre tank from Johannesburg to Cape Town.

Transport from Johannesburg to Durban

When a business in Johannesburg needs machinery, stock or equipment in Durban, it doesn't have to wait for a consolidated delivery service: it can book a dedicated vehicle for the trip. The vehicle is booked for your load and travels on the agreed date.

The trip is quoted from our Randburg base to your collection point, down to Durban and back, so tolls and the return journey are part of one price. Book in advance, ideally by about 18:00 the day before; that's a guideline, not a strict cut-off.

Transport from Johannesburg to Cape Town

For example, we have moved a 5,000-litre tank from Johannesburg to Cape Town as a dedicated trip. Large single items like this don't suit a parcel network, and many don't justify a full-size truck.

On a trip this long, the quote can include overnight accommodation for the driver as well as tolls. As with every long-distance trip, you pay a 75% deposit before dispatch and the remaining 25% on delivery.

Polokwane, Witbank, Welkom and other destinations

Our long-distance trips don't only go to Durban and Cape Town. We also take dedicated trips from Gauteng to Bloemfontein and to smaller towns and destinations such as Polokwane, Witbank (eMalahleni), Ventersdorp and Welkom, and many others. Each one is quoted on its own, for the whole trip. We don't publish fixed long-distance rates, because a fixed rate could create the wrong expectations.

Every long-distance trip starts in Gauteng, where we work across the province from our Randburg base. See where we work.

How long-distance pricing works

Every long-distance trip is quoted on the whole journey: the vehicle travels from our Randburg base to your collection point, delivers your load and returns to base. The quote reflects that total distance plus tolls, access, travel time and any special requirements, and can include overnight accommodation, waiting time and special handling. Quotations are generally valid for seven days, subject to fuel-price adjustments, availability and any conditions stated in the quotation.

Payment is a 75% deposit before dispatch and 25% on delivery, by EFT; cash is possible by prior arrangement. We're not VAT registered, so our prices carry no VAT. See how our pricing works.

What to send for a long-distance quote

Send the collection and delivery towns, what the load is, its approximate size and weight, and the date it needs to move. A photo on WhatsApp helps us plan the vehicle. Every trip is covered by our goods-in-transit insurance with King Price, up to R100,000 per trip, subject to the policy's terms, exclusions and excess. If your load is worth more, tick the goods-in-transit box on the quote form and tell us its value.

For vehicles and machinery, see car and equipment transport; for urgent loads within Gauteng, see same-day and urgent delivery; for household items, see furniture removals.

How it works

From message to drop-off

  3. Confirm and pay the deposit

75% before dispatch, ideally confirmed by about 18:00 the day before.

FAQ

Questions before you book

Can't see your question? Ask on WhatsApp (opens in a new tab) or read all questions and answers.

Which long-distance routes do you cover?

Dedicated trips from Gauteng, including Johannesburg to Durban and Johannesburg to Cape Town, but not only those routes. We also go to Bloemfontein and to smaller towns and destinations such as Polokwane, Witbank (eMalahleni), Ventersdorp and Welkom, and many others. Each trip is quoted on its own.

How far ahead must I book a long-distance trip?

Book in advance, ideally confirmed by about 18:00 the day before. This is a guideline, not a strict cut-off: urgent long-distance requests are assessed individually.

How do I pay for a long-distance trip?

A 75% deposit before dispatch and the remaining 25% on delivery. EFT is preferred; cash is possible by prior arrangement.

Do you have fixed rates from Johannesburg to Durban or Cape Town?

No. Each trip is quoted on the whole journey, from our Randburg base to collection, the delivery and back, plus tolls, access, time and any extras such as overnight accommodation. Quotations are generally valid for seven days, subject to fuel-price adjustments, availability and any conditions stated in the quotation.

What kind of loads do you take long distance?

Loads that justify a dedicated trip: machinery, stock and equipment for businesses, and bulky or odd-shaped items. For example, we have moved a 5,000-litre tank from Johannesburg to Cape Town.

Can you take a small parcel to Durban or Cape Town?

A dedicated vehicle is designed for loads that justify their own trip. For a single small parcel, a dedicated long-distance trip is not always financially practical, and a parcel service will usually cost less.

Can my goods travel with other customers' loads to save money?

Our primary service is dedicated transport, giving your load exclusive use of the booked vehicle. Shared-load options may also be available by prior arrangement. For long-distance work, that depends on the route, scheduling, available space and suitability of the goods, so ask when you request a quote.

Do you transport across the border?

No. Cross-border transport isn't offered. Our long-distance trips start in Gauteng and go to destinations in South Africa.

Is my load insured on a long trip?

Yes. Every trip is covered by our goods-in-transit insurance with King Price, up to R100,000 per trip, subject to the policy's terms, exclusions and excess. If your load is worth more, tick the goods-in-transit box on the quote form and tell us its value, so we can quote extra cover for the trip before you book.
